Q. I'm not getting any sound when the keys are pressed.
A. Check the polarity of the buzzer. |

Q. I entered my Unit code and PIN but nothing seems to happen.
A. Check that the Gate Control program is running and that it is communicating with the PLC. On the front of the PLC there should be three green lights, one for power, one for run, and one for com. The light for com should be blinking. |

Q. Gate Control program is running but I'm not seeing a light for com on the PLC.
A. In the Gate Control program, check to make sure the port settings are correct.
You can find it under Options on the menu bar. |

Q. As soon as I plug in the keypads in to the PLC the buzzer sounds constantly.
A. Check to see if the plug on the keypad cable is upside down or wired backwards. Check both ends of the cable. |

Q. The keypads appear to be dead, no lights and the buzzer doesn't sound when keys are pressed.
A. Check that the brown and white wires from the top of the PLC are plugged into the PLC circuit board. |

Q. There is a red fault light on the front of the PLC.
A. Unplug the PLC and check for shorted wiring.
Once the short has been fixed, plug the PLC back in, the fault should clear. |

Q. How big can my Unit numbers and PIN code be.
A. Unit and PIN codes are limited to 1 - 26999. |

Q. The default hours are not right when I move someone in.
A. Change Hours of Operation, it is under Tools Site Setup. |

Q. I have letters and numbers in my unit codes, how will that work?
A. The unit codes will be translated into a numeric code.
If the unit code was A101 it will be translated into 1101.
The range for these codes are 1-26999. |

Q. When I input an entry code sequence, I receive a run time error in the Gate Controller.
A. No records in Unikey. Set up a unit in the Unikey program. |

Q. I need a password for the meter reader. (trash pickup, fire, police, etc.)
A. Add a unit to the Unikey database. (ex.911). Change the status of that unit to Inactive.
Add PIN numbers for that unit. Police and fire should have 24-hour access. Remember that there may be multiple PINs for a single unit. The gate controller software also has a place to put in an emergency code, click Options |

Q. How do I change the size, status etc. of a unit?
A. Choose "Edit", then select "Units", and then enter the unit number. Use the drop down boxes to change the various fields. |

Q. I am unable to successfully backup Unikey databases.
A. The Gate Controller software cannot be running when making a backup of Unikey. Close the Gate Controller software. |

Q. I have tenants with incorrect hours of access.
A. Choose "Edit", then select "PINs", change the hours as necessary, and then choose "Accept". |
